University of Oklahoma Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies Interim Director Randy Peppler was recognized by OU’s Student Government Association yesterday.
Each year SGA recognizes an outstanding faculty member. Nominations are sent to an SGA committee of student leaders who then select recipients of the award.
Peppler was presented the SGA Outstanding Faculty Award from the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability during a ceremony on Tuesday.
“I am humbled to be recognized by the students,” Peppler said. “They are wonderful, knowledgeable, and dedicated. I’ve enjoyed both the students in my classes and those I work with on the Green Week Committee and the Geography and Environmental Sustainability Club. We are in great hands for the future.”
Peppler said his favorite thing about OU is its “homey” atmosphere.
“Everything is so accessible and welcoming – it feels small in a good way,” he said. “Our students are wonderful.”
Peppler has a Master of Science in Meteorology and a Ph.D. in Geography.
