Research Scientist

My primary research interests are centered on the near-storm environments of tornadic thunderstorms, with a focus on tornadic storms in the southeastern United States. My Ph.D. research focused on the influences of terrain in near-storm environmental evolution. I have also conducted research on the causes of damage and behavior of mesovortices in quasi-linear convective systems (QLCSs). At CIWRO, I serve as the physical science coordinator for the VORTEX-SE project, working with scientists in the VORTEX-SE community to advance physical science research of tornadic storms and their environments in the Southeast. I also continue to maintain research in environmental influences on tornadic potential in storms, as well as the assessment of severe convective wind damage.
